You want to know about the latest gadgets, the latest laptop computers, the best televisions on the market. How do you keep up? With new technology breaking through the clouds seemingly every few seconds, especially when you consider the new computer you purchased just last week that is now getting pushed aside for another model, what can you do to stay in line?

Here are some ideas:

  • Stay up on the latest news online. If you have efficient wireless internet providers giving you high-speed connection, you can have up to the minute updates of the freshest releases anytime you want. Whether you find a great news site or a terrific blog run by a professional with an eye on technology, check in at least once a week to learn of new ideas and new products.
  • Start a group either online or off—and meet together on a monthly basis and discuss trends in technology. This may be trends as it relates to business, family, or personal interest.
  • Read all you can from technical magazines such as Wired or PC Magazine. Often, these magazines are in need of more readership and will offer a 6-month trial.
  • Use your computer on a daily basis. Learn what you don’t know and become more expert in what you do.
  • Don’t be afraid to learn more things by asking questions. If you’re at an electronic store and the salesman speaks some technical jargon, don’t nod like you understand him if you don’t. Ask what the term means and learn something.

Keeping up with technology in every arena is probably not possible, but focusing on your interests and keeping up with your quickly changing niche, more than likely, is.

Who Will Win the Tablet OS Battle?

The question on every tech savvy mind lately is who is going to win the tablet operating system battle. There are fairly limited options, and because of this, the battle is extremely heated. This battle is very similar to the one that continues to wage in desktop and laptop computers between Apple and Microsoft. The main players in the tablet battle consist of Apple and Android.

Many people are strongly for one side of the battle or the other. Those who choose the iPad are usually fans of Apple products in general. Those who choose Android tablets are usually not as impressed with Apple, and instead like more open source software.

When considering who will win the battle of the tablet operating systems, there are many things to take into account. For example, Apple products tend to be more expensive than Android products. On the other hand, Apple has a much more world-wide known brand. Because of this, many people who track trends feel that Apple will win the war. Having a well-known brand name means a lot in this day and age.

Realistically, there is no way to know who will eventually win the war. Some feel that Android will win, while others think that Apple’s staying power will win in the end. The two operating systems are currently very close, though Apple is slightly ahead of Android.

Of course, there is also the possibility that one of the other operating systems, or even one that we haven’t yet heard of, will emerge and take the lead.
